Priority Area Coordinators (PACs) of the Priority Area 6 (PA 06: preserving biodiversity, landscapes and the quality of air and soils) of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region (EUSDR) held the 9th meeting of the PA 06 Steering group in Munich, Bavarian State Ministry of the Environment and Consumer Protection, 29-30 November 2017.

The Steering Group of Priority Area 10 "Institutional Capacity & Cooperation" consists of representatives of the 14 Danube Region countries, the European Commission and other stakeholders. It meets twice a year to discuss plans and progress in regard to the implementation of the Priority Area's targets and actions. The Steering Group is the main decision-making body of the Priority Area.

The EU Strategy for the Danube Region Priority Area 10 ”Institutional Capacity Building and Cooperation” organises a meeting aimed at raising the awareness of city and regional administrations, policy makers and NGO’s of their role in the fight against the trafficking in human beings. Using practical examples, the round-table will illustrate and develop actions and activities leading to the development of projects that could help cities in their task of fighting human trafficking, while also starting to cooperate amongst each other.

EU macro-regional strategies are aiming at addressing challenges shared within a functional area. They also aim at better implementation of the EU policies and more coordination of existing institutions and financial resources. Macro-regional strategies address broad scope of priorities, making an effort for cooperation and coordination across the territory.

Constant need for development of transport infrastructure, impact of climate change and 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development emphasized the need to create more sustainable, safe and resilient transport system.
In this workshop UN ECE and the EUSDR Priority Area 1b joined forces to strengthen the knowledge on transport-related SDG, in particular SDG 9 – building resilient infrastructure.

From the 26th to the 27th of October, the coordination of Priority Area 10 "Institutional Capacity and Cooperation" organises together with the Moldovian Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment and the Foster Europe Foundation the "Danube Financing and Capacity Building Dialogue". The event is aiming at promoting project implementation through bringing together potential project romoters with public and private donors (e.g. EU programmes, private foundations, development cooperation agencies etc.) and promoting the exchange between donor organisations.
